Core Data Model

The Core Data Model is the consensus model for organizing the essential information for synthetic DNA sequences. The model is consistent with the recommendation submitted to Nature Biotechnology by the SBOL Developers group.

SBOL version 1.1.0 is defined in the BioBrick Foundation Request for Comment document BBF RFC 87 

Extensions

Extensions to the Core Data Model support the visualization and specification of biological designs as well as the communication of additional information, such as host context or performance measurements. 

There are currently 17 applications that have implemented the SBOL standard, at least to some level of compliance.
